Top global investment trends in 2025
Today's world is experiencing a significant number of conflicts, including the full-scale war in Ukraine, which has been going on since 2022, and the escalation in the Middle East. The situation around Taiwan, which is claimed by China, also adds to the tension. According to the Institute for Economics & Peace, there are currently 56 armed conflicts in the world, the highest number since World War II.
In addition to military conflicts, the number of cyberattacks is growing, which creates additional challenges but also opens up new investment opportunities. Industries such as arms production and cybersecurity are gaining more and more attention from investors.
In times of uncertainty, investors also seek protection in so-called safe-haven assets such as gold. In 2024, this precious metal rose in price by more than 27%, reaching new historical records.
Demand for electricity also continues to break records, driven by the development of electric vehicles, the growing number of gadgets, and the energy intensity of modern technologies. For example, a single Google query consumes 3 Watt-hours of electricity, while a similar query in OpenAI consumes 2.9 Watt-hours.
Energy sources are becoming increasingly diverse, from fossil fuels to green and nuclear power. Investments in these industries may become promising in 2025.
The launch of ChatGPT in 2022 triggered a real boom in the artificial intelligence stock market. In 2025, the trend of investing in AI companies continues.
Experts note that the shares of such companies still have room for growth, although skeptics fear the possibility of a bubble.
What to invest in 2025
Gold
Gold is considered one of the most stable assets. In 2024, its price rose by 27%, exceeding $2,800 per ounce for the first time. Experts predict that the price could reach $3,000 per ounce in 2025.
According to economist Borys Kushniruk, gold is an asset that protects against inflation and preserves value, unlike cryptocurrencies, which are virtual in nature. At the same time, economist Oleh Hetman notes that gold can bring a 5-10% annualized return, especially during financial crises.
Currency
Keeping money in foreign currency, especially in US dollars and euros, remains a popular option in Ukraine. Forecasts for 2025 indicate that the hryvnia will remain stable at 42-44 hryvnia to the dollar.
Experts recommend paying attention to hryvnia bonds and deposits, which can provide a yield of 10-15%. At the same time, foreign currency deposits remain less profitable but reliable.
As a reminder, bonds offer income and help diversify investments and manage risks. The beginning of 2025 may be the best time for Ukrainians to buy bonds.
We also wrote that bitcoin began to grow rapidly in November 2024, after the US presidential election. It crossed the $100,000 mark, and in the coming years, the coin is expected to grow to $1 million.
