Apple changes strategy — iPhone SE 4 could be renamed
Apple is expected to unveil the fourth-generation iPhone SE in March. However, according to recent reports, the device may get a new name.
This is reported by MacRumors.
Will the iPhone SE 4 get a new name?
According to a report by Fixed Focus Digital on December 13, the model will be called the iPhone 16E. This information was published on the Chinese platform Weibo, where the account has more than 2 million subscribers. Additional confirmation came on December 31 from another source, Majin Bu, who also stated that the device would be called the iPhone 16E.
It is not yet known what exactly the new name will be: it could be iPhone 16E, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 with an E in the square, or even iPhone 16 SE. There is also a possibility that the rumors will not be confirmed and Apple will keep the iPhone SE brand.
Although Fixed Focus Digital is not the most reputable source for Apple leaks, the account has previously correctly predicted the new iPhone 16 Pro color, Desert Titanium. However, in the case of the available iPhone 16 and 16 Plus colors, the prediction was inaccurate. The key point is whether their information about the new iPhone SE name and the use of the iPhone 16's body will be true.
The iPhone SE 4 will reportedly have a design similar to the basic iPhone 14 and iPhone 16. The following characteristics are currently known:
- 6.1-inch OLED display;
- Face ID;
- USB-C port;
- 48-megapixel main camera;
- new A-series chip;
- 8 GB of RAM;
- Apple's own 5G modem.
However, it is currently unknown whether the device will receive the Action button that debuted in the iPhone 15 Pro.
The current iPhone SE, introduced in March 2022, features the iPhone 8 design, including outdated elements like the Touch ID button, Lightning port, and thick bezels. Priced at $429 in the US (UAH 16,829 in Ukraine), the new model is expected to see at least a slight price increase.
As a reminder, some iPhone models are no longer available for ordering in Apple's online stores in Europe. Starting December 28, according to a new EU directive, all mobile devices must be equipped with a USB Type-C port.
We also wrote that the design of the upcoming iPhone 17 line was shown online. Insiders suggest that the new products may have a horizontal camera unit.
