Lifecell, the third largest mobile operator in Ukraine by subscribers, plans to raise the cost of its tariff plans in February 2025. This is a necessary step due to rising electricity prices.

This was announced by DVL Group CEO Mykhailo Shelemba in an interview with Forbes Ukraine.

"All operators have felt the rise in electricity costs. It almost doubled last year. This year, we are planning UAH 2.3 billion (USD 47,721,419.95 — Ed.) in expenses," Shelemba stated.

Lifecell has decided to revise the cost of some tariffs in order to find additional funds to modernize its telecoms network and improve services and quality of service.

However, the cost optimization will allow the mobile operator to use only half of what is required by the economic environment. According to the CEO of DVL Group, which includes Lifecell, the last price update was almost a year and a half ago for 15% of subscribers.

This time, the changes will not affect customers who have used the lifecell number portability service since December 2024. After all, Ukrainians switched to a new mobile operator and fixed the cost of their tariff plan until the end of this year.

Favourable tariff from lifecell

With Kyivstar and Vodafone’s services becoming more expensive, Ukrainians are looking for a favorable tariff. One of the best options on the market is the Powerful service package from lifecell. For just UAH 165 (USD 3.94 — Ed.) per month, subscribers get:

  • 800 minutes of talk time (unlimited in-network data after the minutes are used);
  • 60 GB of mobile traffic subject to the timely payment of the service package;
  • free traffic distribution via devices.

In addition, you can pay UAH 100 (USD 2.39 — Ed.) per month and enjoy unlimited Internet access if you transfer your mobile number. Many of our citizens have taken advantage of this, if we take into account the statistics of new subscribers in December 2024 alone.

As a reminder, children use phones as much as adults, so they need a favorable tariff plan. Kyivstar, Vodafone, and Lifecell offer several good options for connecting. With them, children will not overpay for services they do not need.

We also wrote that MPs want to classify mobile service providers as critical infrastructure. The main reason is that 24 million subscribers lost their connection at the end of 2023 when Kyivstar suffered a large-scale disruption.
