Since the beginning of 2024, the price of bitcoin has more than doubled. The increase in the rate is due to the confidence of investors that the cryptocurrency has a great future after the election of Donald Trump as president.

According to Reuters, the bitcoin rate was positively affected by the decision of the US market regulator to approve exchange-traded funds that depend on the spot price of bitcoin.

Bitcoin will continue to rise in price

It is noted that in early January 2025, bitcoin broke the historical mark of $100 thousand, so investors' interest in cryptocurrency has only strengthened.

CoinGecko's data shows that the striking success of bitcoin, plus the significant rise in price of Ethereum coins (by 50%), the second largest cryptocurrency, has brought the total market value of the sector to approximately $3.5 trillion.

Meanwhile, analysts believe that cryptocurrencies will continue to rise in price.

"We remain convinced that $100 thousand is not the limit. We expect bitcoin to reach a cycle high of $200,000 at the end of 2025," says a note prepared by Bernstein brokerage specialists for their clients.

Journalists also note that the popularity of bitcoin increased significantly in early 2025, when it became known that the US Securities and Exchange Commission had decided to approve the first ETFs linked to the spot price of bitcoin. This decision is already being called a milestone for the entire cryptocurrency industry in the global financial environment, providing it with institutional legitimacy and attracting the attention of a wider audience.

Along with positive forecasts for the development of bitcoin, there are also negative opinions. For example, crypto expert Ali Martinez recently explained why the value of the cryptocurrency could collapse in 2025.

We also wrote that Ukraine plans to recognize digital currency at the state level. This is expected to happen in the first half of 2025.
