Many users wonder when to connect their phone to a charger to extend battery life. The "20-80" tactic is generally accepted — a smartphone is discharged by up to 20 percent and charged by up to 80 percent.

This was reported by Radio Track.

At what percentage of charge should you leave your smart phone to charge?

However, this method may cause certain inconveniences. Firstly, a charge level of 60%-80% might not be sufficient for an entire day of active use. Secondly, it requires frequent monitoring of the battery level to avoid missing the right moment to recharge.

To address this issue, it is advisable to use dedicated apps that notify users when the battery reaches a specified level. However, it should be noted that such applications are only available for Android.

An alternative approach is the "50-70" strategy, which involves maintaining the battery charge between 50% and 70%. According to some experts, this can extend battery life by two times or even more. However, this method might be inconvenient for users who are constantly away from outlets or other power sources.

Thus, both strategies have their merits and can be effective depending on the smartphone usage scenario. In any case, experts strongly discourage letting the battery discharge to 0% or charge to 100%, as this significantly reduces battery lifespan.

As a reminder, starting December 28, all portable devices in the EU must be equipped with USB-C ports. This includes tablets, smartphones, cameras, headphones, and other gadgets.

We also previously reported that there are some guidelines to help extend smartphone battery life. Users often make simple mistakes that lead to reduced battery efficiency.
