The must-have summer shoes that feel like bare feet

It seems that fashion has already shown everything it could? Not at all. If there is a category where there is always a place for a fresh idea, it is shoes. They not only complement the look, but often dictate its mood. And now, in the summer season of 2025, transparent ballet flats confidently appeared on the catwalks, city streets, and fashionable Instagram accounts.

Transparent ballet flats are a hybrid. They balance somewhere between the mesh ballet flats we've seen in previous seasons and the legendary jelly shoes from the 90s. But most importantly, they literally disappear on foot. Some models are so thin that they create the effect of bare feet, only emphasizing the shape of the foot. There are other variations — with a pointed toe, with a rounded toe, on a thin bridge, like in "Mary Jane", or with a strap in the back, like in slingbacks.

These shoes seem to be specially designed for hot urban summers: light, breathable, almost weightless. And at the same time — unlike flip-flops — they protect the foot, which makes them comfortable even for an active day in the city.

What to wear with 

Versatility is the middle name of transparent ballet flats. They go well with:

• with linen shorts and an oversized shirt;
• with airy knee-length or floor-length dresses;
• with an "old money" suit;
• or even with denim — especially cropped to highlight the shoes.

The ideal option is to choose a model with a small detail: a bow, thin piping, or a colored insole. This way, the shoes won't be completely "naked", but will remain within the trend.

And remember that such shoes require well-groomed feet. Everything will be visible: both the color of the nail polish and the condition of the skin. On the other hand, it is the ideal reason to finally sign up for a pedicure or try the "naked nails" style — slightly pink, shiny, and natural nails.
