Melania Trump appeared at the ball in an elegant sheath dress
The wife of U.S. President Donald Trump, Melania Trump, is once again in the spotlight for her choice of dress for the inaugural ball held at the Washington Convention Center. Like the previous time, her image was created by her personal stylist and designer Herve Pierre, who also designed Melania's first inaugural dress in 2017.
This was reported by WWD.
How did Melania Trump surprised us this time?
This time, Melania opted for an elegant strapless white gown with a thigh-high slit that accentuated her figure. The standout feature of the dress was its black detailing, which gracefully wrapped around the bodice. According to Pierre, the design was inspired by the image of a ribbon encircling a bouquet of flowers. This masterpiece was crafted by a Chinese-American seamstress at a New York atelier.
Melania paired the gown with a black choker adorned with a 1955 diamond brooch by Harry Winston and white pointed-toe pumps. Her loose hair and evening makeup completed the look, radiating sophistication and simplicity.
Hervé Pierre admitted that it was an honor to work with the First Lady. He noted that her style tends to favor the classic combination of white and black, which was embodied in the gown.
Interestingly, Pierre joined a small group of designers who have created inaugural gowns for U.S. first ladies. They include Jason Wu, who worked with Michelle Obama, and James Galanos, who created looks for Nancy Reagan.
Melania's first inaugural gown, made in 2017, impressed critics so much that it's now in the Smithsonian. The off-the-shoulder vanilla silk masterpiece, with a burgundy ribbon at the waist, has become a true style icon.
Will the new dress get as many positive reviews? Pierre just hopes that the critics will appreciate it. But given how elegant Melania looked that night, there is little doubt.
