Blogger revealed iPhone 16e’s hidden features by disassembling it
The creator of the popular YouTube channel Phone Repair Guru has carried out a detailed analysis of the new Apple iPhone 16e smartphone. He wanted to find out its compatibility with components of older models and check the possibility of implementing MagSafe support.
iTechua writes about it.
Can iPhone 16e get MagSafe support?
During the disassembly process, the blogger experimentally found that the new iPhone 16e easily accepts components from previous Apple models. In particular, the smartphone turned out to be compatible with the Taptic Engine vibration motor from the iPhone 14, the speaker from the iPhone 15, the induction coil for wireless charging from the iPhone 14 and 15, the SIM slot, and the screen from the iPhone 14.
The author also drew attention to the lack of support for MagSafe magnetic charging in Apple’s new budget smartphone. In the company’s official position, this feature was considered unnecessary for potential users of a more affordable model. However, in practice, it turned out that there were no constructive limitations to the implementation of MagSafe.
The blogger solved the problem in just a few seconds. He stuck the spare magnetic ring inside the back of the smartphone. Despite fears that the new element would cause difficulties in closing the case or cause deformation, the assembly was successful.
After the modification, the iPhone 16e connected to the MagSafe charger without any problems, and it stayed securely in place. However, the proprietary animation characteristic of MagSafe did not appear during this connection.
Thus, the author of Phone Repair Guru proved that MagSafe support in the budget iPhone 16e was quite real and had no technical limitations on Apple’s part.
As a reminder, Apple’s iPhone 16e was not a budget model, but it remains a great option for those who need an affordable Apple device. If you own an iPhone 15, here are five reasons to upgrade to the new model.
