The representatives of global business are ready to invest in Ukraine, but they need security guarantees. Moreover, legal documents are not enough for this.

This opinion was expressed by Yulia Svyrydenko, the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, at the Ukrainian Breakfast in Davos organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

Ukraine’s partners need more guarantees

Yulia Svyrydenko noted that Ukraine has an open dialogue with its global partners.

"I think that trust is the key and what we see here in Davos is that business is ready to invest to strengthen its operations in Ukraine. But they expect very specific security guarantees, and that should be part of potential future regulation. And it should be very practical," Svyrydenko explained.

The MP added that the best guarantee of security for both Ukraine and its partners would be the country’s accession to NATO.

"Obviously, NATO is the best solution not because of a legal document, but because of the military infrastructure that needs to be created. We have a very good example at the beginning of the large-scale invasion and our seaports were blocked. And you remember that there was an agreement between Turkey and the UN. Russia sabotaged this agreement and we were able to open this Black Sea corridor when the missile systems were in place," Svyrydenko said.

As a reminder, during her speech in Davos, Yulia Svyrydenko said how many reforms have already been implemented in Ukraine recently.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, has spoken out on whether Russia has the right to decide on Ukraine’s future in the Alliance.
